Kim's first author's event will be at May Day Books in Minneapolis (301 Cedar Ave.) on Thursday, November 13 at 7pm. Kim will read from her book and explore with others how the concept of religion is inherently antithetical to animal liberation, and she will challenge secularists to view the world detached from religion’s cultural baggage. Wine, beer, soda, and vegan snacks will be available for noshing during Kim's discussion. 

kim may day flyerKim's next event will be at the monthly Minnesota Atheists meeting at the Brookdale Library (6125 Shingle Creek Parkway, Brooklyn Center) Sunday, November 16th from 2pm to 4pm (Come at 1pm for the Minnesota Atheists business meeting and social time).

Animal Liberation and Atheism is a call for everyone to consider developing a system of ethics disengaged from anthropocentric and speciesist mythologies so that needless violence against all beings and the environment may diminish.

Kim Socha, Ph.D., is a college English professor and activist for animal liberation, drug policy reform, and transformative justice. She is the author of Women, Destruction, and the Avant-Garde: A Paradigm for Animal Liberation, and is a contributing editor to Confronting Animal Exploitation: Grassroots Essays on Liberation and Veganism and Defining Critical Animal Studies: A Social Justice Approach for Liberation.

Kim has been active with Minnesota Atheists for several years and was one of the 36 contributors to Atheist Voices of Minnesota (Freethought House: 2012).
