Janet Conn is the president of the Minnesota chapter of Compassion & Choices, a national nonprofit organization working to improve care and expand choice at the end-of-life. Janet will be on to discuss the issue of end-of-life care and death with dignity laws, including the current proposal underway in Minnesota's 2015-2016 legislative session.

Americans United for Separation for the Separation of Church and State is a non-partisan, non-sectarian organization that advocates for the separation of church and state. AU's advocacy efforts are based on the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. AU supports grassroots organization and education, advises on and fights for legal issues, and promotes legislative efforts. The type of issues that AU takes on is varied - discrimination, marriage, reproductive rights, government subsidies for religion, religion in public schools, school vouchers and the judiciary are just a few.
This Sunday the president of the Minnesota Chapter of Americans United, David Pacheco, will join us to discuss the principles that AU support and the work that the national and Minnesota chapters are currently doing.

Jay Bakker is a Minneapolis-based pastor, author, speaker and theologian. He co-founded Revolution Church, a Christian organization that was formed in the wake of his upbringing in Christian fundamentalism and the religious right. Jay Bakker is the son of televangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker.

One of the goals of the atheist movement is to have our voices represented and heard in the halls of power. Until we're elected in any great number, one of the best ways to do this remains lobbying our elected representatives. Before we can do that, however, we need to know how to lobby.
For the past four years, Monette Richards of the Center for Inquiry--Northeast Ohio and Secular Woman has organized a Secular Summit in Ohio. The Secular Summit combines training in lobbying with hands-on practice in talking to politicians. That includes talking to politicians who disagree with you. Monette joins us this Sunday to talk about what goes into lobbying and what we get out of lobbying together as atheists.
