Dan Barker returns to Atheists Talk this Sunday to discuss his recently published book, God: The Most Unpleasant Character in All Fiction. The title is adapted from a chapter in The God Delusion, by Richard Dawkins. In Dan Barker's book, he expounds on what exactly makes God the most unpleasant character in all of fiction. From the book description on Amazon:

What words come to mind when we think of God? Merciful? Just? Compassionate? In fact, the Bible lays out God’s primary qualities clearly: jealous, petty, unforgiving, bloodthirsty, vindictive—and worse! ... Barker combs through both the Old and New Testament (as well as thirteen different editions of the “Good Book”), presenting powerful evidence for why the Scripture shouldn’t govern our everyday lives. This witty, well-researched book suggests that we should move past the Bible and clear a path to a kinder and more thoughtful world.

Dan Barker is a former Christian evangelical who is well known for his atheist activism. He is an author, speaker, community organizer, musician and debater. He is the current co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, an organization that promotes the separation of church and state and educates the public on matters relating to atheism, agnosticism, and nontheism.

We hope that you will join us this Sunday for our discussion with Dan Barker.
