"Challenging the Future of Humanism", Anthony Pinn on Atheists Talk #376, October 16, 2016

Yesterday at First Unitarian Society in Minneapolis, several groups including First Unitarian, Humanists of Minnesota, and the American Humanist Association came together to talk about the future of Humanism. Panelists Anthony Pinn, Sonita Sarker, Chris Stedman, William Hart, and Phil Zuckerman explored Humanism's weaknesses and strengths and challenged us to challenge ourselves.

Anthony Pinn is a professor of African American religion at Rice University in Houston, TX. He's a prolific writer on Black theology, including atheist theology. He's worked hard to see both Black religion and Black nonbelief appropriately recognized within the U.S. secular movement. He joins us today to talk about the conference and continue to explore the topic.

"Portrait of an Infidel" Michael Vito Tosto on Atheists Talk #375, October 2, 2016

Join Atheists Talk this Sunday for our discussion with Michael Vito Tosto, author of the newly published book, Portrait of an Infidel: The Acerbic Account of How a Passionate Christian Became an Ardent Atheist. In his book, Tosto shares his upbringing in an observant Baptist home, his involvement with church life as a young man, his growing disillusionment with Christianity and his eventual deconversion.

Michael Vito Tosto makes a case that Christianity is inherently harmful and divisive, and he advocates for others to join him in embracing their acerbic infidel selves.
